Gardening Resolutions for 2020

Gardening Resolutions for 2020

Have you thought about what you’d like to accomplish in 2020? The new year is quickly approaching, and it's the perfect time to make plans and challenge yourself! Here are a few of our resolution ideas:

I will save water. Plant drought-tolerant and native plants and install or check your irrigation. The Water Utility Authority offers generous rebates when you go xeric and plant water-wise trees.

I will start my own seeds. Starting seeds is easy (and cheap!) and gives you the opportunity to try unique varieties! Stay tuned for a list of our 2020 seeds, and don’t hesitant to fill out a “Seed Request Form” in store if there’s something specific you’re looking for.

I will compost my kitchen scraps. Do your leftover greens, onion layers, coffee grounds and egg shells go in the trash? Try a compost bin instead. All those scraps are nutrient-rich garden food!

I will ask for help. There are so many great local gardening resources: Bernalillo County Extension Office, Albuquerque Master Gardeners, Albuquerque Rose Society, Native Plant Society of New Mexico, Desert Blooms and more. As always, feel free to stop by, e-mail or call us with any questions!

I will enjoy my garden. Gardens aren’t just about chores and lists and planting and picking and cleanup. Kick up your feet and enjoy! You deserve it!
